Why Important?
Recent National Academy of Sciences report (October,
2007) concludes:
National shortage of medical isotopes for research and medicine
National shortage of federal funds for medical isotope research
National shortage of trained medically-related nuclear scientists
Recommendations? More federal funding programs, more education
programs, more isotope production.
Development of new funding programs, education
programs, research programs and production capacity
will take time.
